The words paradise and Seychelles really do go hand in hand, and with it’s 115 islands and inlets sprinkled across the crystal clear blue waters of the Indian Ocean- it’s not difficult to see why.

East of the African Continent, this a true haven for beach lovers, with its white sands and lazy palm trees playing host to what has been considered some of the world’s best snorkelling and diving. There is also plenty of opportunity for deep-sea fishing- with tuna or marlin being the typical catch of the day.

Life in the Seychelles is very relaxed and on some islands such as La Digue, traditional forms of transport such as the ox-cart are still used.

However, recent years have seen reinvestment in the Tourism industry, which resulted in the attraction of major, modern hotel groups

This destination offers plenty to experience outside of sea and sand, however, with a unique and inviting shopping district comprised of local handicrafts that create brilliant souvenirs including hats, pottery and basket wares.

Seychelles also has some extremely unique cuisine in its restaurants- most notably the renowned Creole, which sees interesting blends of herbs and fruit mixed with rice, fish and often sausage. Of course there is a wide range of western food also on offer for those with a more sensitive palate!

Nightlife here is a regularly low-key affair but there are several clubs dotted around the islands. A good night out is extremely possible as long as you’re not expecting something out of Ibiza or Majorca.

Seychelles sedate and tranquil treatment of its visitors makes it the ideal get-away for honeymooners and other couples who can spend plenty of time chatting in the calm bars, nice restaurants and dreamy promenades.

As pure as it gets’ is the marketing term used by Seychelles Tourism and there is no truer way to describe these beautiful islands.

Things to do

Cousin Island
This is a special reserve island that was first established to help save the Seychelles Warbler. The island has now developed vastly and is often considered astounding by it’s visitors who are amazed by the sheer cacophony created by the different birds who use the island as a safe haven from development. There is also a touch of action to the excursion as visitors get shot over on a speedboat, which is of course inclusive!

Cathedral of our Lady of Immaculate Conception
Seychelles is known as an extremely welcoming society but its roots are firmly Catholic. This dominant impressive cathedral is definitely worth a viewing as it is the Mother Church of the Catholic Diocese in Seychelles and one of the first churches to have ever been built here.

The Black Pearl Shop
This is the perfect spot for those looking to pick up some one off designs that will serve as both beautiful jewellery and stunning souvenirs of your time spent in Seychelles. All pearls are cultivated from the Seychelles and Black Lip Oysters are crafted by internationally award winning jewellers. You can also learn about the oysters themselves in their farm across the way if buying is not a budgetary option.
