Chile

Chile is situated in South America, to the west of the Pacific Ocean, and is a rich natural setting that provides a wealth of possibilities for fans of the great outdoors.

Chile’s remarkable shape is perhaps the first thing that strikes people about this stunning nation- but there is an equally amazing geography to go with the country’s elongated mass of land.

There is parched, rain-deprived desert in the north, and icy glaciers in the south- a true smorgasbord of geographical features! The beautiful Andes mountains are nearly always in eye range- offering a true sight for sore eyes along the horizon of Chile.

From excellent skiing, through to horse riding, trekking, and adventure rafting opportunities, the country has become an idyllic spot for adrenaline junkies.

The central zone in Chile is predominantly agricultural, and is often referred to as the breadbasket of Chile. This is where the two-thirds of the population reside. While the Atacama desert, the driest in the world, is in the northern part of the country.

The capital, Santiago, boasts a varied restaurant and nightlife scene, as well as  lively street markets and a vibrant street life to be enjoyed by those fortunate enough to dwell there for some time.

There are also some gorgeous colonial churches and cathedrals to be spotted both in and outside the capital-  proving that Chile is a safe bet for those interested in architecture and historic buildings.

Chile is the ideal destination for those looking for an activity based trip away- whether it’s mountain biking along rocky slopes or walking through the bustling sights and sounds of Santiago- the options are endless.

Parque Nacional Lauca
Parque Nacional Lauca in the north of Chile is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve - look out for flamingos and rheas (an ostrich-like bird).

Chiloé
This eccentric island off Chile has plenty of wonderful wooden churches to observe- offering an idyllic day away from the mainland.

Volc&aacuten Villarrica
This is one of the world's most active volcanoes, located near the region of Puc&oacute. However, It is not as dangerous as it&nbspsounds as it is also one of the world's most monitored volcanoes.&nbspThis makes sure that there is always plenty of warning ahead of eruptions.
